55th IFFI Kicks Off in Goa with a Star-Studded Opening

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) commenced on November 20, 2024, in Goa. This nine-day event, running until November 28, aims to showcase cinematic excellence alongside Goan culture. The festival will feature over 180 international titles from 81 countries, including world premieres, international premieres, and a special segment celebrating Goan films. The opening ceremony was held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Panaji, with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju inaugurating the event.

Justice D. Krishnakumar Becomes Chief Justice of Manipur High Court

On November 20, 2024, the Central Government, via the Ministry of Law and Justice, announced the appointment of Justice D. Krishnakumar from the Madras High Court as the new Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Justice Krishnakumar will succeed Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul, who is set to retire on November 21, 2024. The recommendation for this appointment was made by the Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, on November 18, 2024.
