About the Admission

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-II — formerly known as AHSEC — has officially launched the DARPAN portal to streamline and digitize the admission process into Higher Secondary 1st Year (Class 11) courses across the state.

This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and transparent admission system for students who have successfully cleared their HSLC examinations in 2025. Eligible candidates can now apply online for admission to various Arts, Science, and Commerce streams for the academic session 2025–2026 through the DARPAN portal.

Students and guardians are advised to carefully read the instructions and admission guidelines provided on the portal before applying.

Students are allowed to apply to a maximum of five (5) institutions of their choice.

Admission Process for Students

Students who wish to take admission into Higher Secondary 1st Year courses in various schools, colleges, or senior secondary institutions across Assam under ASSEB must apply online. The step-by-step process is outlined below:

  1. Visit the Important Links section at the end of this page.
  2. Click on the link titled HS 1st Year Online Admission.
  3. On the portal, click on Register a New Account.
  4. Fill in your personal and academic details as asked.
  5. Upload your passport-sized photograph and HSLC marksheet.
  6. Set a 4-digit PIN to complete the registration.
  7. Re-login using your credentials to start the admission process.
  8. Choose your preferred course and institutions (up to 5) in order of preference.
  9. Submit your form and take a printout for future use.
  10. Keep checking the portal regularly to see your admission status.

Before applying, students should keep the following scanned documents ready in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format, not exceeding 1 MB in size:

Institutional Guidelines

Institutions intending to offer admission through Darpan must update their profiles on the portal using their existing login credentials. Newly approved institutions that are not yet registered must create their profile using a token number provided via SMS to the Principal. UDISE code (for schools) and AISHE code (for colleges) are mandatory during registration or profile update.


Checking the Merit List

After the application deadline, students can check the merit list prepared by individual institutions on the DARPAN portal. The process to view and respond to admission offers is as follows:

  1. Go to the Important Links section below.
  2. Click on HS 1st Year Merit List.
  3. Log in using your registered mobile number, date of birth, and security PIN.
  4. In your dashboard, go to Application Submitted.
  5. See your admission status for each institution you’ve applied to.
  6. If selected, click on Accept Admission Request to confirm your seat.
