Changes in GST Tax Rates on Goods:

  1. Aircraft Parts: A uniform 5% IGST rate will apply to aircraft parts and tools to boost MRO activities.

  3. Paper Products: GST on cartons, boxes, and cases reduced from 18% to 12%.

Changes in GST Tax Rates on Services:

  1. Indian Railways Exemption: Public services like platform tickets, cloakroom services, and retiring rooms will be GST-exempt.
  2. SPV Services Exemption: Services provided by Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to Indian Railways are exempt during the concession period.
  3. Accommodation Services Exemption: Accommodation services up to Rs. 20,000 per month for a minimum of 90 continuous days will be exempt.
  4. Re-insurance Services: Clarifications regarding insurance and reinsurance transactions, making some transactions “no supply.”
  5. RERA Statutory Collections: Collections by Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERA) are GST-exempt.
  6. Incentive Sharing: Incentive-sharing under RuPay and BHIM-UPI is not taxable.

Centre Notifies Anti-Paper Leak Law Amid NEET, NET Row

The Centre has enacted the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 in response to widespread paper leak scandals surrounding major competitive exams like NEET and UGC-NET. The law, effective from June 21, 2024, introduces severe penalties to curb cheating in public exams.
