About NMMS Scholarship 2024 – National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship
The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has announced the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) for the academic year 2024–2025. This Centrally Sponsored Scheme provides financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections to prevent them from dropping out at Class VIII and to encourage them to continue their education till Class XII.

Eligibility Criteria
- Class: Students in Class VIII enrolled in Government, Local Body, or Government-Aided Schools.
- Marks:
- Minimum 55% marks in Class VII (50% for SC/ST).
- To continue the scholarship, students must secure 55% in Class IX and XI and 60% in Class X (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
- Parental Income: Annual income should not exceed ₹3,50,000.
- Type of Schools: Only students in Government, Government-Aided, or Local Body Schools are eligible.
Students Ineligible for the Scheme
- Students from private schools.
- Students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, or State Residential Schools with boarding and lodging facilities.
- Students already availing benefits from other Government scholarship schemes.

Selection Process
- Written Examination with MCQs in two parts:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT) – 90 marks
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – 90 marks
- Both exams will be held on 23rd November 2024, and candidates must secure at least 40% marks (32% for SC/ST) in aggregate.
- The exam will be conducted in English and Assamese mediums, and an OMR sheet will be provided for answers.
