Overview:
The official Assam Government Holiday List is released by the Government of Assam every year for the people of Assam. Government of Assam, General Administration Department (GAD) of Assam has recently released the document for holidays during the year 2025 for several institutions which are supported under the Government of Assam record with the Ref: File No. E-221561/ 347 Dated Dispur the 6th December, 2024.
On these days, all govt. institutes such as offices, schools, colleges etc. under Government of Assam will remain closed. The official holiday list of Govt of Assam is listed in this article below.

Few Important notes:
1. The Educational Institutions, Medical/Engineering Colleges, etc. may adopt these Holidays, however, it is desirable that the number of holidays may be decreased for Educational Institutions, Medical/Engineering Colleges etc. and they will adopt academic calendars decreasing the number of holidays.
2. All Second Saturdays and Fourth Saturdays of the months will be observed as Holidays. All other Saturdays will be full working days.
3. In addition to the Gazetted/Restricted Holidays and Holidays under N.I. Act 1881, all 2nd and 4th Saturdays would also be observed as Holidays. The Deputy Commissioners are allowed as in previous years to declare any 1(one) day which may be of local significance as Local Holiday except Kamrup (M). With the approval of Hon’ble Chief Minister, the General Administration Department, Govt. of Assam is authorized to declare 2(two) Local Holidays for Kamrup (M) District.
4. The General Administration Department, Govt. of Assam is allowed to declare 2 (two) additional holidays with the approval of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam.
5. On account of Ali-Aye-Ligang there will be full Holiday for the Districts viz. Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Majuli, Charaideo and Biswanath Districts (Total 11 nos. of District). There will be Restricted Holiday in respect of other Districts for the occasion.
6. Special Casual Leave on account of Matri Pitri Vandana may be availed by the State Govt. employees on the following date:
